Finding the Right

Font Combination

Overview

Background

As part of my graduate program, I took a course focused on usability experience design: from research, to interface design, to a testable prototype. The course goal was to develop an understanding of general UX design best practices and human psychology that facilitates decision-making, explore the latest functionalities of mobile and web interface design and patterns, and look across a variety of tangible and experiential interfaces for examples.

Inspiration

For me, finding the right font and combination of fonts is often a struggle. The choice paralysis just gets me every time! After duplicating so many frames of the same text block with different fonts or weights, it felt like there could be a more efficient way to go about this. What if there was a tool where I could quickly test my ideas and store combinations for future reference?

Problem Exploration

During our problem space exploration, we created an ecosystem map to visualize key parties that may have a stake in design outcomes and distinguish relationships between entities.

User Research

We conducted multiple research interviews to learn more about the different types of experiences designers have when exploring typography. This is an example of one of the personas we discovered.
